Ironman and Prince Caspian
Well now that I am out of school for the summer (yes, even at 26 I still look forward to the summer break). So I have returned to the theaters to do some serious movie watching.

Last Wednesday it was Ironman. I got to enjoy this much more than many other Marvel Comic movies because I am not as familiar with this comic as opposed to Superman, X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, and the others that I spent countless hours reading, trading, and collecting (I think it was only after I got married that I gave up my few remaining comic books). So this movie was quite the treat. Interesting choice in casting and I am not sure if Robert Downey Jr. would have been my first choice for the main character Tony Stark, but he pulled it off in a believable fashion. On the flip-side Jeff Bridges as the antagonist was a great choice! He seemed to have all the right aspects of the two timing, back-stabbing character that defines Obadiah Stane. The movie seemed to drag slightly at times, but overall kept a good pace to keep you entertained. The PG-13 leans towards the some questionable suggestive material and use of a lot of explosives, but it is definitely good for parents with older teenagers.
Last Friday my wife and I caught Prince Caspian. The second part of the Chronicles of Narnia, supported by a return of all the original main characters Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, and Anna Popplewell. Additionally Ben Barnes added to the cast, playing the role of Prince Caspian (which I was informed by my Jr. High girls that “He is HOT!”). Growing up reading the Chronicles of Narnia, it is always neat to relive them on the screen. To my recollection the story was retold in a great fashion and the acting had a decent depth to it. The original story was part of a series written by the Christian writer C.S. Lewis, but both my wife and I walked away scratching our heads at what each Character represented. Regardless, good flim, well told, and decent acting; made for a great family film (oh, but there is fighting including one drawn out dual between Peter (William Moseley) and King Miraz (Sergio Castellitto).
So far two good movies to start this summer and I am hoping for more!

haven’t seen Prince Caspian yet but definitely looking forward to it… i’ll have to look over the book one more time just to remind myself how the original story goes
Patrick,
I half wished that I had done the same for Prince Caspian, but viewing the movie on its own is still really good!
Enjoy,
